Less is More

In 1987 Larry had his brother Charly with him.  Charly is an accomplished guitarist/musician and has played, recorded and toured with big brother on numerous occasions.  The PA guy set up the mic and the lead for Charly’s guitar as requested and I sat back waiting for Larry to bring him on.  And waited.  And waited.  When Larry said Goodnight at the end of the concert,  I thought Charly was going to join him for an encore.  But he didn’t.  To this day I don’t know exactly what happened.  I asked Larry shortly afterwards and he just remarked that “I forgot”.

With Larry being Larry, he always does his solo gigs without a set list of any kind and relies on God’s leading.  The 1987 concert is widely acknowledged as one of Larry’s finest and he probably did not feel the need to bring Charly on.

Next time I see him, I’ll ask him again.
